A superb experience for my 1st festive meal of the season. It was fine dining in the most relaxed atmosphere possible. Our server was excellent in his demeanor and very helpful with info necessary to make that final choice. The food was excellent, cooked to perfection with great flavours igniting the palate like a Tango dance. For all that the food, the service and the atmoshpere, it was reasonably priced at just under 50 quid person. If you're thinking about a treat for yourself and that special someone, lunch at the Sorting Room is highly recommended.

DINNER: Having read several negative reviews, I arrived a bit skeptical. The first dinner quickly changed my mind, and I ended up returning for a second visit during my stay in Cardiff. Service was outstanding—attentive, professional, and genuinely warm—thanks to my server, Mo (short for Mohammed), who went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with both food and drinks. I started with the duck three ways, complemented by a well-judged berry sauce—delicious. The Beef Wellington was exceptional: a perfectly cooked, high-quality filet wrapped in crisp, non-soggy puff pastry, set over crunchy yet creamy potatoes, with a balanced sauce that tied everything together. Desserts are great, too. Dining here was a pleasure, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
This had to be the prettiest/daintiest afternoon tea I've ever had. Really enjoyed the savoury options as they are quite often a bit of a let down. The beef brisket slider was absolutely delicious and I could have scoffed another one! Scones were served straight from the oven. They were very light and buttery. The pastries were the most delicate I've ever had. I was expecting them to be rich and heavy but that wasn't the case. The pixie orange lacked the mousse texture that was stated on the menu and could hardly taste the orange flavour. That was the only pastry that disappointed. Service was excellent and out teapots were never empty! Overall, I really enjoyed our experience. Perfect for a special occasion.
Everything about this restaurant was really good. I use these words specifically. It wasn’t exceptional but it was really good. The menu offers a solid choice of starters, share plates, mains and desserts. Nice wine & cocktail menu. Staff were friendly and kind.
Really enjoyed our Easter Sunday lunch experience. The hotel and restaurant has a luxury feel to it and the decor is lovely. The staff were very attentive and friendly and made the experience more enjoyable. We had 3 courses and enjoyed every one, all having different things. The malbec wine was delicious and the cocktails also went down well. Would definitely come again.
My wife was given three course meal for two as a gift. Only a small choice of items on the menu 4 starters, mains and deserts but this wasn’t a bad thing as the food was outstanding. Portion sizes were just right. Service was also great. £11 for two bottles of water and £45 for a decent bottle of wine. My desert wasn’t as expected and didn’t really work, lemon drizzle cake with Eaton mess cream.
Wow! The food here is exceptional. They made my birthday so special with little touches and the service from Kim was amazing, such a caring person who went the extra mile to make my birthday wonderful. The beef wellington is a must and the maple martini was one of the best cocktails I’ve had!
Beautiful building and interior, fantastic service. Great menu, plenty of choice, although difficult to read with the dimmed lighting. Prawn starter was unbelievably good, rump steak was a little chewy.
